The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has
fined a developer and a construction company for their failure to
obtain a permit and follow federal regulations for handling stormwater
runoff from the Harbour Lakes residential development in Palmas del
Mar, P.R. The two companies, Palmas Lakes, Inc. and F& R
Contractors, agreed to pay fines totaling $100,000.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has
filed individual complaints against the municipalities of Cayey,
Hatillo, Las Piedras, Loiza, Rio Grande and Toa Alta in Puerto Rico for
failing to comply with federal Clean Water Act requirements related to
stormwater management for small municipal sewer systems.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Friday that
it has awarded $17 million to New Jersey, New York and Puerto Rico (all
in EPA’s Region 2) to clean up a variety of trucks, construction
equipment and locomotives, as well as a diesel-powered ferry, cruise
ships and other marine vessels. The funds are being provided under the
American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009 National Clean
Diesel Funding Assistance Program.

In a move that stands to create jobs, boost local
economies, and protect human health and the environment, U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Lisa P. Jackson,
announced that the agency has awarded nearly $72 million to Puerto Rico
