EPA Orders Caribbean Petroleum Refining L.P. To Resume Cleanup of Its Facility

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered Caribbean Petroleum Refinery L.P. (CAPECO) to resume cleanup work in the aftermath of the October 2009 explosion and fire at it’s facility in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Last week, contractors hired by CAPECO to perform cleanup actions walked off the job.

EPA Fines Puerto Rico Air National Guard for Improperly Managing Underground Petroleum Storage Tanks

EPAThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a complaint to the Puerto Rico Air National Guard, part of the U.S. Air Force, for improperly managing underground tanks used to store diesel fuel and gasoline at its facility in Toa Baja. Leaking underground storage tanks pose significant threats to soil, surface water and ground water.

EPA Orders Puerto Rico Police Department to Improve Handling and Disposal of Confiscated Fireworks

In an effort to enhance public safety and protect the environment, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reached an agreement with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to improve the way the Puerto Rico Police Department manages confiscated fireworks and other pyrotechnics after an inspection revealed violations at five police department facilities.
